The HOME Project constantly seeking talented, compassionate candidates with high-integrity to strengthen its capacity to respond urgently to crises with the right skills. Given the nature of THP’s work, it is essential that its workforce has the right mix of skills and qualities to fulfil its mandate. In this regard, we are looking for a dynamic individual to lead as Head of Development Unit and to coordinate and develop a diverse range of communication and fundraising activities.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing the fundraising and communication strategy of the organization Researching, preparing fact-checking, editing, and producing professional media and communications materials for various audiences (including campaigns, events and other initiatives)
  • Responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the organizations newsletter and social media strategy in order to increase awareness and support
  • Providing considered professional communications advice to representatives and other senior staff of THP on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintaining a prominent position in the news for advocacy and fundraising purposes.
  • Meet all fundraising strategy targets, timelines and income projections.
  • Develop public fundraising opportunities and activities and submit grant applications to private and public institutions
  • Research, identify and manage donations from trusts, foundations, institutional funders, governments and statutory-making bodies, corporate and private donors.
  • Attract, build and develop relationships with new and existing corporate donors to secure long term and increased funding across a wide range of target markets.
  • Manage a mixed portfolio of funders, ensuring reporting deadlines are met, terms and conditions for grants are satisfied, grant income is collected efficiently when due and donor retention remains an ongoing priority.
  • Research new philanthropic foundations and likely sources of statutory funding both in Greece and abroad.
  • Handle communications with external partners, supporters and volunteers.
  • Ad hoc executive requests.
  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Political Science, Public Relations or a related field.
  • Master degree in Communication, Public Relations or a closely related discipline will be considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as media, advocacy or development officer. Experience of working with donor-funded projects will have an added advantage.
  • Advanced understanding of the country media and communications environment.
  • Social media and multimedia skills.
  • Experience of a wide range of fundraising activities and proven success of substantial income generation.
  • Good knowledge of the principles of fundraising from trusts and foundations and experience in soliciting funds from these sources.
  • Previous experience in preparing multiple funding application forms and writing detailed and compelling proposals.
  • Outstanding writing, re-writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent communication, and presentation skills, in Greek and English, both written and oral.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of tasks.
  • Experience of producing project budgets.
  • Experience of working in a multicultural environment.

Requirements:
