Operations Officer

 Who we are

The HOME Project is a non-profit organization that has provided relief to more than 400 lone refugee children in Greece. Through a holistic network of child protection services, which range from food and shelter to psychological, educational, legal and mental health support, we aim to provide a home for every unaccompanied refugee child that arrives in Greece. Our additional programs include professional training and internship opportunities for the children, funding partnerships with similarly focused international humanitarian aid organizations, and high-level dialogues at worldwide summits raising awareness and support for lone children.

 Job Description

 We are seeking an organized and driven Operations Officer that will effectively develop and enact company policies and increase efficiency of operations for The HOME Project. The Operations Officer is responsible for undertaking and overseeing all operations of the organization through effective coordination and communication as well as transportation responsibilities involving driving company’s minivan for various assignments. We are looking for a motivated, organized, problem-solving individual, with a great attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills who is particularly passionate about assisting refugee children.

 Main Duties: 

  • Undertake and monitor daily operations and address potential issues when they arise
  • Undertake daily company administrative processes and procedures
  • Conduct daily liaison with shelter coordinators and provide weekly reports
  • Conduct regular operational reviews and audits for preventive maintenance
  • Responsible for on-site maintenance evaluation and organizing for all maintenance quests as needed
  • Monitor product inventory including the organization, computation and coordination of donations
  • Coordinate stock control and purchase of materials and supplies
  • Transportation responsibilities involving driving company van for various assignments including weekly delivering of food from farmer’s market, transporting children, commute to our 11 shelters across Athens

  • Lives in Athens, Greece and is native or near native in Greek with fluency in English

 Required Skills and Experiences: 

  • Previous experience in operations
  • 2+ years demonstrated work experience in a similar role
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively undertake and coordinate the day-to-day operations of an organization
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills in Greek and English
  • A valid, full, Greek drivers license held for a minimum of 5 years

 Desired skills: 

  • Previous experience in working with vulnerable refugee population and especially minors would be preferable
  • Previous experience in NGO operations is a plus
  • Experience with office management software like MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook and MS Power Point)
  • Native level of English and Greek
  • BSc in Business Management or relevant field
