Job Description

The HOME Project is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer who will be responsible for all the financial and accounting affairs of the organization, as well as its financial strategy and planning. The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for supervising the organization's cash flow, budgeting, as well as the financial control to donors and chartered accountants. The individual must have a broad knowledge of accounting, financial and business processes and will refer to the CEO of the organization.

Key duties and responsibilities

The role of the Chief Financial Officer includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Financial Planning of the organization
  • Reporting to organization’s stakeholders of the financial situation
  • Detailed and on time financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, yearly)
  • Ensure financial activities of the organization comply with National Law
  • Book-keeping and Accounting source documents control
  • Monthly and end of year reporting
  • Bank accounts reconciliation
  • Preparation of annual audit reports, balance sheet, and periodic reports regarding income-expenses
  • Income Declarations (N, E2, E3) yearly
  • Establish, monitor and control organization’s accounting software systems
  • Approval of monthly payroll
  • Composition and submission of the documents of ERGANI-SEPE and Analytic Periodic Statements
  • Completion of the leave book
  • Handle all tax obligations
  • Labor Inspection Index


  • Higher Education degree from a school of accounting, finance, or business administration
  • Experienced in similar position as Chief Financial Officer or Accounting Director.
  • Previous experience with NGO procedure will be considered an asset
  • Very good knowledge of Accounting, Insurance, and Labor Legislation
  • Certified knowledge of the Greek Accounting Standards
  • Very good knowledge in the management of ERP systems – software of financial and payroll applications
  • Lives in Athens, Greece and is a fluent English speaker with excellent communication, and presentation skills, in Greek and English
  • Genuine interest in the values and mission of the organization
  • Goal oriented and able to deliver requests on time
  • CPA certification will be considered an asset
