Meet Faizan, a young man from Pakistan who arrived in Greece on his own at the age of 15. At 17, he was placed in one of our shelters, where he received a holistic network of child protection services and began planning for his future.
Last year, Faizan expressed an interest in learning a trade. Through our network, we connected him with Sirigos Deluxe Furniture, where he became an apprentice and began learning woodworking and furniture-making techniques. Faizan still goes to school in the evenings and actively participates in the ACS Athens Youth to Youth program on Saturdays.
His goals for the future are to master the Greek language and become an expert in furniture making. Faizan’s story shows that a stable and supportive environment combined with a child protection model focused on integration can transform a young person’s life.
